About the data
Through the consortium, UC investigators have access to CDPH state-wide COVID data including labs, deaths, facilities, locations, and vaccinations.
Review our CDPH COVID Data Dictionary (Excel) for a detailed look at what's included in the datasets.
*3/7/25 Updates:
- LA County will stop providing zip/ctract case registry data for COVID cases as of 3/10/25.
- The source for lab results in LA County will migrate from linelist lab data to ELR data pulled from lab results through the SaPHIRE program on 3/10/25.
- FYI In summer 2025 the state regulations for mandatory COVID reporting are expected to change, and COVID will no longer be a disease condition that requires case investigation in California. As a result, the datasets providing case data will no longer be updated.
*10/15/24 Updates:
- On 10/9/24 the CDC discontinued previous versions of the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) reporting templates. As a result, updates to the hospitalization data table (name: HOSP_TBL_UCOP_AGG_NHSN_CHA) are currently paused. Updates will resume, once data using new reporting requirements is available and pipelines have been restored. The anticipated timeline is several weeks.
- In some good news, CDPH's open data portal now includes data tables on Flu and RSV, in addition to COVID-19. This data can be accessed by visiting https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/RespiratoryVirusReport.aspx, and under "Resources" selecting "Explore CDPH Data: COVID-19, Influenza, RSV".
